Summer 2025 Cello Workshop
June 23rd – June 28th, 2025, San Rafael , California (USA)
Join us for a 5 day (in-person) cello workshop retreat at Dominican University of San Rafael, California (USA). This is for the adult learner.
- Multiple workshops daily including cello technique, cello choir and master classes.
- Includes housing for 5 nights, all meals and all workshops.

Summer 2025 Workshop – San Rafael, California
- DATES: June 23rd (check in between 11-1) – June 28th, 2025 (departure after breakfast).
- LOCATION: Dominican University of San Rafael, California (USA). Guzman Hall Rehearsal Space.
- HOUSING: Dorm-style apartment living at Edgehill Village on campus. 2 bedroom apartment (single occupancy bedroom) with shared bathroom, no kitchens.
- FOOD: 3 meals a day in Caleruega Dining Hall, catered by Epicurean Group. Vegetarian and gluten-free options.
- INSTRUCTORS: Carolyn Hagler, Matt Armbruster, Paul Rhodes & Anne Lerner
- CLASSES: 2-3 sessions daily including: cello technique, cello choir and master classes.
- CONCERTS: There will be two concerts – a live faculty concert and a performance by attendees viewable via Zoom for family/friends.
- EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Beginners are welcome to participate if you are able to:
- Play all notes in 1st position.
- Play extensions and are beginning to shift to 2nd, 3rd & 4th positions.
- Play with accurate intonation (most of the time).
- Have an understanding of good sound production.
- Have a basic understanding of rhythm.
- Work well (and enjoy) learning in a diverse group setting.

- PRICE: $1,295 USD per person.
- Includes housing for 5 nights (linens provided), 3 meals a day, and all workshops.
- You provide transportation to and from the event.
- OFF-CAMPUS attendees; Tuition is $550
- Cello Rental option available for an additional fee, if you cannot travel with your cello.
- Non-refundable deposit of $200 is due with the application to reserve your spot. Final balance due no later than April 20th.
- No room/board refunds after April 20th, 2025. (Please look into travel insurance if you think you might need to cancel).
